Rocking Horse Manufacturer

Wooden rocking horses and ride-on nursery items, shaped, sanded and finished in our own factory in Yunhe, Zhejiang — the classic first gift item in a wooden toy range.

What we make in the rocking horse line

A rocking horse is the item a buyer chooses when the product has to look like a gift before it looks like a toy. The shape does the selling, and the rocker does the work.

  • Classic rockers (TS0001) — a shaped body on two curved rockers, the traditional nursery format.
  • Seated rockers — a version with a back rest and foot rests for a slightly older child.
  • Branded gift items — an engraved or printed name plate, a printed saddle, and a gift box.
  • Extended nursery ranges — rockers packaged with other ride-on and baby items as a nursery programme.

The item sits in the wooden rocking horses category, alongside balance bikes and baby toys.

Shape and balanceThe rocker radius and the seat position are fixed at drawing stage, because they decide whether the horse rocks or tips.
Age gradingTypically 12 to 36 months, depending on the seat height and whether the item has a back rest.

The rocker radius decides whether it is safe

One dimension determines most of the outcome. A rocker that is too flat will not move; one that is too curved tips as the child leans. It is fixed at drawing stage and cannot be corrected after tooling, which is why a rocking horse is sampled before anything else.

  • Radius and width. Set together, so the horse rocks forward and back without rolling sideways.
  • Seat height. Decides the age grade, because a child has to be able to get on and off without help.
  • Grip and handles. Shaped at the head or fitted as a separate part, and checked for the load a child applies.

Testing a rocker

A rocking horse is a ride-on toy, so it is tested as one rather than as a decorative item.

  • Load and structure. Seat and handles are loaded to confirm nothing splits or loosens.
  • Stability. The item is checked so that it does not tip over when a child leans or climbs on.
  • Edges and finishes. All shaped edges are sanded over two to three rounds, and the water-based paint is checked against the EN71-3 migration limits.
  • Documents. EN71 reports for the EU and ASTM F963 reports with CPC paperwork for the US, issued per item.

Sampling and ordering

Sampling matters more here than on any other item, because the shape is the product. A custom rocking horse samples in about 10 days; production runs around 30 days after order confirmation; in-stock items start at 50 pieces per item. FSC chain of custody (certificate ESTS-COC-240650) covers the beech and plywood where FSC stock is specified.

Frequently asked questions

Will the rocking horse be sampled before production?

Yes. The rocker radius, the seat height and the balance are fixed at drawing stage, so a physical sample is approved before tooling and production.

What age is a wooden rocking horse suitable for?

Typically 12 to 36 months, depending on seat height and whether the item has a back rest. The age grade decides the test programme and the label.

Can we add an engraved name plate or printed saddle?

Yes. Engraved plates and printed parts are both in use, which fits the item well because a rocking horse is often bought as a gift.

What is the MOQ for a rocking horse order?

In-stock items start at 50 pieces per item; OEM and private-label items are quoted per product.

Which materials are used?

Beech and plywood for the body and rockers, with a water-based painted finish or a natural sanded finish. FSC-certified stock is used where the specification allows.

Can a rocking horse ship with other nursery items?

Yes. Mixed orders can be consolidated into one shipment, so a nursery range can combine rockers, balance bikes and baby toys.
