What we publish here
- Certificates and audit documentation. When an EN71 or ASTM F963 report is renewed, and when a certificate is replaced rather than extended.
- Plant and capacity. New machines and lines, workshop changes, and the months when capacity is tight before Chinese New Year and the autumn shipping peak.
- Compliance changes that affect live orders. When a testing requirement or a marking obligation changes for the EU or the United States and it changes what your technical file needs.
- Packing, loading and shipping notes. Carton and container changes, packing materials, and the practical notes that come out of shipping wooden toys to Europe and North America.
Most recent update
2026 EU & US Toy Safety Compliance Update — what moved on both sides of the Atlantic, and what it means for the test reports and declarations that travel with a wooden toy shipment.
Why the certificates live on a dated page
A certificate file on its own tells a buyer very little. The questions that decide whether it is useful are: which item does the report cover, which laboratory issued it, and does the item code on the report match the item code on the quotation. When documentation is published as a dated item, those changes stay visible. When it is published as one undated PDF, a buyer has no way of knowing whether they are reading this year's report or one from five years ago.
The documents behind these updates
The certificates we can share are summarised on the wooden toy safety standards page, and the way we issue them is described on the catalogues and documentation page: per item, with the specification sheet, so that the report you hold belongs to the item you ordered. Background on the plant itself — the 6,000 m2 workshop, the 80 staff and the woodworking, painting, assembly and packing stages — is on the factory page and the about page.
Before a repeat order
If a range has been in production with us for a year or more, the compliance file needs refreshing at the same time as the price. Two things change quietly: the version of the standard the item was tested against, and the material and paint specification behind it. Neither shows up on a purchase order. Ask for the specification sheet and the current test report against the item codes in the repeat order, and check that the codes match — it takes a few minutes and it is the difference between a technical file that survives a customs or marketplace check and one that does not.
Questions buyers ask after reading these updates
Does a new report make the previous one invalid?
Not automatically. A test report is valid for the item, the material combination and the standard version it was issued under. If the standard changes, or if the paint, the supplier of the paint or the construction changes, the report has to be reissued for the item as it is now made.
Can we see a report before placing an order?
Yes. Test reports and specification sheets are sent with the quotation, per item. Tell us the item codes and the destination country, and we will match the documentation to what you are quoting rather than to the category.
Do you publish your audit documentation?
because the reports carry the audit scope and the audit date and are normally read by the buyer's compliance team. Ask for them at quotation stage and we will send the current version with the other documents.
How to be told when something changes
There is no newsletter to sign up for. If a change affects an item you have ordered or quoted, tell us the item codes once, and we will flag the relevant update to you by email before it reaches the order. For everything else, this page is the place to look. Questions about a specific item, a certificate or a production date go to info@china-wooden-toys.com.
