Kids Wooden Furniture

Kids tables, chairs, shelves and storage in wood, flat-packed for retail. From 50 pcs per item, OEM finishes and packaging, EN71 and ASTM F963 tested.

Children's furniture is the part of our range that is regulated as furniture rather than as a toy, which changes what has to be tested and what has to be documented. We manufacture kids' wooden furniture in Yunhe, Zhejiang and supply it factory direct to importers, retailers and interior brands.

Wholesale kids wooden furniture: what actually decides the order

The single most common misunderstanding in this category is that a toy safety report covers it. It does not. A toddler chair, a table, a storage unit or a bed is assessed against whichever furniture standard applies to that item in the destination market, and a toy test report will not satisfy a retailer's compliance team.

Furniture rules, not toy rules

Which standard applies depends on what the item is: seating, tables, storage, sleeping or changing each sit under a different document, and the requirements are different again in the United States. Before quoting we ask what the item is for and who will use it, because the answer decides the test programme. We then produce to the applicable requirements and supply the reports that cover your order.

Stability and tip-over

Children climb on furniture; that is the design problem. Stability under load, behaviour with the drawer or door open, and resistance to a child leaning on the front edge are the questions that decide whether the item is safe. Where an item can be pulled over, an anti-tip wall fixing and a clear instruction to use it are part of the product rather than an accessory.

Edges, gaps and moving parts

Furniture for children is assessed for sharp edges, exposed hardware and gaps that can trap fingers. Drawer runners and hinges need to close without a guillotine action, and cut plywood has to be sealed and radiused rather than left raw. These are engineering decisions we settle at sample stage.

Assembled or flat-pack

Flat-pack almost always wins on freight for anything table-sized or larger, and it moves assembly to the customer - which is acceptable for furniture and much less so for toys. What has to be designed in is that pre-drilled holes line up, hardware is bagged by step, and the instruction sheet is unambiguous, because furniture assembly failures generate returns that a toy never sees.

Finish and hygiene

Children's furniture is wiped, spilled on and chewed at the edge. We use finishes and edge treatments that survive repeated damp wiping, and we can supply natural or oiled finishes where a buyer wants the unpainted look. Anything painted or printed is produced to the migration limits that apply to the destination market.

Ordering

In-stock furniture starts at 50 pieces per item; larger items are quoted per order because freight is a real part of the cost. Samples are charged per item, custom sampling takes about 10 days, and the fee is deducted from the bulk order at 1,000 pieces per item. Production runs about 30 days after confirmation. Send the item list and the destination market and we will confirm which standards apply before quoting. Our plant is described on the factory page.

Kids wooden furniture MOQ, samples and lead times

Children's furniture is regulated as furniture rather than as a toy, and that single fact changes what is tested, what is documented and how the item is labelled.

How to compare kids' wooden furniture suppliers

Six questions separate a supplier who can run this line year after year from one who can only quote it once.

  • Does the factory make it, or buy it in? Ask which plant produces the item and whether the woodworking and the painting happen in the same place. Ours are made in our own 6,000 m2 plant in Yunhe, Zhejiang.
  • Are the test reports for this exact item? A report has to name the model you are buying, not a similar one from the same family. We supply the reports that cover the items on your order.
  • What happens on the repeat order? Finish, colour and dimensions have to stay put between the first order and the fourth. Automatic woodworking and painting lines are what make that repeatable.
  • Who decides the carton? Carton dimensions and packing format move the landed cost more than a small change in unit price, so they belong in the quotation, not in the shipping discussion.
  • What is the position on spare parts? Missing or damaged components are the most common after-sales claim on wooden toys; ask how replacements are handled and at what point.
  • Is it being tested as furniture? A toy safety report does not cover a toddler chair, a table or a storage unit.

What usually goes wrong on kids' wooden furniture orders

  • Assuming a toy safety report covers it. Children's chairs, tables, storage units and beds are assessed against furniture standards, not toy standards.
  • Stability and tip-over performance treated as a formality. These are the tests that decide whether the item can be sold at all in the destination market.
  • Flat pack or assembled decided late, which changes the fittings, the instructions and the carton after the price has already been quoted.

The factory behind this kids' wooden furniture range

Furniture lines run through the same woodworking and painting plant as our toy range, with the fittings and hardware controlled from the same stock.

Everything in this range is produced in our own 6,000 m2 plant in Yunhe, Lishui, Zhejiang, by a team of 80 running automatic woodworking and painting lines. We have been making wooden toys since 2007 and export to Europe, North America and Oceania.

Products are made to EN71 (EU) and ASTM F963 (US) requirements, with CPSIA and Children's Product Certificate documentation for the United States.

Children's chairs, tables and storage units are assessed as furniture rather than as toys, and the timber behind them is where the EU deforestation rules begin to bite - does EUDR apply to wooden toys and wooden furniture sets out which headings are covered and what the buyer has to hold.
