What we make in the board game line
Board games are the part of the catalogue that sells outside the toy aisle, into gift, bookshop, museum and corporate retail. The production logic is closer to a wooden gift than to a toy, which changes what matters: finish, engraving and the box.
- Chess sets (TS4002, TS4003, TS4005, TS4007) — folding boards, felt-lined drawers and magnetic sets for travel.
- Folding mancala (TS4006, TS4008) — a folding board that holds its own stones when it closes.
- Bamboo solitaire (TS4004) — a peg solitaire board in bamboo, a common gift-shop item.
- Cribbage and score boards (TS4010) — drilled boards with pegs, often engraved with a name or a date.

Laser engraving, personalisation and the gift market
For gift and corporate ranges the engraving is the product. A cribbage board or a folding chess set with a name, a date or a company mark sells at a different price to the identical board without it.
- Engraving runs on the same board, so there is no separate tooling for a personalised version.
- Text, a logo or a simple line drawing can be engraved to a supplied file.
- Presentation boxes, sleeve printing and a printed rule sheet are produced to your artwork.
Safety, small parts and the gift channel
A chess set aimed at adults is not a children’s toy, but the moment it is marketed to under-14s it is judged as one.
- Small parts. Pieces are small by definition, so any version sold for children is labelled and tested for the right age grade.
- Magnets. Travel sets use magnets, which are tested and secured because of the ingestion hazard.
- Coating. Waxed and lacquered finishes are checked against the same EN71-3 migration limits as painted toys.
- Documents. EN71 for the EU and ASTM F963 with CPC paperwork where the item is sold as a children’s product.
Ordering a board game range
In-stock items start at 50 pieces per item, and a mixed order can combine chess, mancala and cribbage in one shipment. Custom engraving is approved on a sample; a custom board takes about 10 days to sample and around 30 days to produce after confirmation.

Frequently asked questions
Can you engrave names or a company logo on a chess set or board?
Yes. Laser engraving is the usual route for gift and corporate ranges, and it needs no separate tooling because it runs on the same board.
Are your chess sets available as folding travel sets?
Yes. Folding boards and magnetic travel sets are both in the range, and the magnetic versions are tested and secured because of the ingestion hazard.
Do you make board games for adult gift retail rather than toy trade?
Yes. A large part of this range goes to gift, bookshop and corporate buyers, which is why finish, engraving and the presentation box get as much attention as the board itself.
What is the MOQ for a board game order?
In-stock items start at 50 pieces per item. Private-label and fully custom items are quoted per product.
Which woods do you use for chess pieces?
Beech and rubberwood for pieces, bamboo for solitaire boards, and plywood or MDF for printed boards. FSC-certified stock is used where the specification allows.
Can you supply the rule sheet and the box in our own design?
Yes. Rule sheets, sleeve printing, inserts and presentation boxes are produced to your artwork and can be printed in your own languages.
