Wholesale wooden role play toys: what actually decides the order
In role play, the set is the product. A wooden kitchen with two pans is a toy; the same kitchen with twelve accessories is a range anchor at three times the price. Piece count, scale and storage are the three decisions that set the position.
Which set, and how big
- Table-top sets. Market stalls, doctor kits, tool benches and tea sets that fit on a table or a shelf.
- Floor-standing sets. Kitchens, shops and workshops at child height, which are a freight decision as much as a design one.
- Extension sets. Food, tools, crockery and accessories sold on their own to raise basket size from the same tooling.
Piece count and storage
Accessories carry the perceived value and the small parts risk at the same time. An accessory list fixed early is easier to cost and to test than one that grows during sampling. Storage matters just as much: a set with a crate, a tray or a bag is a set parents describe as tidy, and tidy sets get recommended.
Realism against safety
Role play works because it copies the real thing, and that is exactly where the hazards live. Knives, tools and utensils have to look convincing without being sharp, pointed or able to pinch, and items for children under three cannot include pieces that fit the small parts gauge. Where a set is genuinely 3+, the age grading and the warnings on the carton and the product have to say so clearly.
Materials, finish and compliance
These sets use a lot of surface area, so the finish is a large part of both the cost and the compliance work. Paint, print and any applied graphics have to meet EN71-3 migration limits. In the EU the product needs CE marking and EN71 testing; in the United States, ASTM F963 compliance, third-party testing and a Children's Product Certificate. We produce to both and supply the reports covering the items you order - the certificates we can publish are on the toy safety standards page.
Branding and range building
Role play is the easiest category to build a branded programme around, because one set becomes a family of sets. We apply your artwork, barcode and age labelling and produce to your approved sample; see private label wooden toys for branded packaging, or OEM wooden toys if you want a set developed from scratch.
Ordering
In-stock role play sets start at 50 pieces per item. Samples are charged per item: in-stock items normally leave within 48 hours, custom sampling takes about 10 days, and the fee is deducted from the bulk order at 1,000 pieces per item. Production runs about 30 days after confirmation. Send your list and we will quote item by item.
Wooden role play MOQ, samples and lead times
In role play the set is the product: piece count, scale and storage decide the price point, and the balance between realism and safety decides whether the design passes.
| Minimum order | 50 pieces per item for in-stock wooden toys. OEM, ODM and private-label items are quoted per product, because the minimum depends on how much of the item is customised. |
|---|---|
| Samples | Items already in the range are usually dispatched within 48 hours. Custom sampling takes about 10 days. |
| Sample credit | The sample fee is deducted from the bulk order once the order for that item reaches 1,000 pieces. |
| Production lead time | Around 30 days after order confirmation, subject to order complexity, material and quantity. |
| Payment | 30 percent T/T deposit in advance with the balance before shipment; final terms are confirmed with your order. |
| Documents | EN71 (EU) and ASTM F963 (US) test reports covering the items you order, CPSIA and the Children's Product Certificate for the United States. |
| Mixed orders | Several categories can be combined into one shipment, so a container can be built from more than one product line. |
How to compare wooden role play suppliers
Six questions separate a supplier who can run this line year after year from one who can only quote it once.
- Does the factory make it, or buy it in? Ask which plant produces the item and whether the woodworking and the painting happen in the same place. Ours are made in our own 6,000 m2 plant in Yunhe, Zhejiang.
- Are the test reports for this exact item? A report has to name the model you are buying, not a similar one from the same family. We supply the reports that cover the items on your order.
- What happens on the repeat order? Finish, colour and dimensions have to stay put between the first order and the fourth. Automatic woodworking and painting lines are what make that repeatable.
- Who decides the carton? Carton dimensions and packing format move the landed cost more than a small change in unit price, so they belong in the quotation, not in the shipping discussion.
- What is the position on spare parts? Missing or damaged components are the most common after-sales claim on wooden toys; ask how replacements are handled and at what point.
- How big is the set, and where does it live? A set that cannot be packed away does not stay in a playroom, and that shortens the life of the line.
What usually goes wrong on wooden role play orders
- The set size. A kitchen with two pans is one product and the same kitchen with twelve accessories is a range anchor at a different price point.
- Storage. Larger sets live or die on whether the pieces can be put away, so the tray or box belongs in the design brief.
- Realism against safety. The details that make a set convincing are often the ones that raise small-parts and entrapment questions.
