Wholesale kaleidoscope toys: what actually decides the order
A kaleidoscope sells on a demonstration rather than on a specification sheet, so the questions that decide a sourcing order are different from the ones that decide a building-block order: how the assortment is built, how the print survives handling, and whether the optical end still performs after a container crossing. This page sets out what we produce and what buyers normally need confirmed before booking.
Two formats: card tubes and solid wood mushroom styles
The range covers two formats. The volume sellers are card tubes with a plastic eyepiece, telescoping or fixed, from about 19 cm to 23 cm long and supplied in mixed motifs per carton. Alongside them we produce a solid wood mushroom kaleidoscope — a natural wood body with a painted cap and a lens set into the top, 5.3 cm tall and 5.3 cm across, painted in red, green, yellow or blue. If your range is strictly timber-only, the mushroom style is the one for you. If you sell party favours, pocket-money toys, gift-with-purchase items or mixed impulse carts, the card tubes sit naturally beside wooden novelties and fill a price point that timber cannot reach.
The print is the product
Because the whole visible surface is the wrap, artwork does most of the selling. Motifs are supplied in mixed assortments per carton, and a custom motif — your own character, mascot or brand illustration — is the usual route for buyers who want the item to carry their identity. Colours are signed off against your artwork before production starts, and the paper weight and surface finish of the wrap are the two specifications worth agreeing in writing, because they decide how the tube looks after being handled on a shop shelf.
Assortment, not a single SKU
Kaleidoscope orders are rarely one design. Buyers build an assortment — several motifs at low quantities each — so the practical unit is the mixed carton rather than the single item. Tell us how many motifs you want and how the carton should be split and we will quote the assortment as one order line, instead of forcing you into a full carton for every design.
Cartons, MOQ and timing
In-stock motifs start at 50 pieces per design. Custom motifs, custom print or your own packaging start at 1,000 pieces per design. Stock samples leave within about 48 hours, a custom sample takes about 10 days, and bulk production is normally around 30 days after the sample and the artwork are signed off. Cartons are loaded to a fixed piece count so that a mixed container can be built from several motifs without breaking a single carton.
Age band and the lens end
The age band printed on the packaging decides everything downstream: the warnings, the declaration of conformity and which reports you need for the market you are selling into. The lens assembly is fitted into the tube rather than supplied loose, and we produce to the age band you specify. Test reports are issued against the item code on your quotation rather than for the range as a whole.
